What TPU, PC, and a Hybrid Case Actually Are
TPU, PC, and hybrid constructions cover most of the wholesale phone case market, including every MagSafe line iFunSmart ships. TPU, or thermoplastic polyurethane, is the soft, flexible material that takes the shock of a drop. PC, or polycarbonate, is the rigid, hard material that holds a shape and stays optically clear. A hybrid case is a rigid polycarbonate back bonded to a flexible TPU bumper, so the back resists scratches while the edge absorbs impact.
No single one of the three is the right material in the abstract. Each one buys a different property, and the property a buyer needs is set by the price band the case will be sold in, not by the material's reputation. A materials conversation that starts with a band and a market ends faster, and with fewer wrong samples, than one that starts with a factory catalog.
Why Clear TPU Yellows and What Anti-Yellowing Buys
Clear TPU is the entry material for iPhone and Galaxy cases, and yellowing is its known weakness. Left in sunlight, on a hot dashboard, or in daily contact with skin oils, ordinary clear TPU drifts toward yellow over months of use. The buyer did nothing wrong and the case still looks old, which is how a cheap clear case turns into a bad review and a refund.

Matching Material to the Band You Sell In

The entry band sells on price and volume, and clear TPU is its natural material: it is cheap to mold, it takes color well, and it shows the phone through. Buyers in this band are usually paying for a finish that survives a pocket, not for a material name.
Where Finishes Fit: Clear, Matte, and Smoke
Inside any band, the finish changes how a case feels in the hand as much as the material underneath it.
Matte finishes scatter fingerprints and light scratches instead of showing them, which is why they dominate the mid and top bands. The practical way to choose is to work backward from the buyer's task. A case bought to protect a phone that lives in a work bag can be matte and thick. A case bought to dress up a new phone for the weekend has to be clear or smoke, and then the anti-yellowing grade stops being optional.

That is a spread you can judge from one shipment instead of guessing across five finishes.
Does anti-yellowing material cost more than ordinary TPU?
Yes, and the premium is the point. Anti-yellowing grades and named-brand materials carry a real cost increase over commodity TPU, which is why entry lines sometimes skip them. The honest way to decide is to compare that cost against what one yellowed-case return costs you in refund, return freight, and review damage, then pick the grade the arithmetic supports. How do I verify a material claim before bulk?
Ask for the material composition on the spec sheet, not in a chat message, and ask for it to be written into your confirmation. Then order a sample and put the case through the conditions you actually expect: pocket, dashboard, a week of handling. A factory that names its material and ships a sample for hold testing is different in kind from one that sends renders and adjectives.
