The Four Things That Move the Number
A minimum order quantity is not a policy a factory picks to look exclusive. It is the quantity at which a specific production run stops losing money, and that break-even point changes with the job.
The first driver is the model. A case for a phone whose mold already exists runs on existing tooling, so the setup cost is already paid. A case for a brand-new model may need a new mold, and the tooling cost has to be absorbed somewhere, which pushes the minimum up.
The second driver is the finish. A stocked finish, meaning a color and material combination already in production, carries almost no setup. A custom color match or a non-standard material requires a batch made specifically for you.
The third driver is the print or logo method. A blank case and a case with your logo are different jobs. Full-surface printing, hot-press logos, and engraved molds each carry their own setup, and setup is the cost that MOQ exists to cover.
The fourth driver is packaging. A plain polybag and a printed retail box are not the same order. Custom packaging adds a second production step, and it has its own minimum.
Why We Can Keep Some Minimums Low
A low minimum on one line and a higher one on another is not inconsistency; it is a direct consequence of what already exists.

When your model and finish are already in our range, your order runs on existing tooling and the setup is already paid. That is why a test order on a stocked style is far easier to place than a custom run.
When your order needs a new mold or a custom retail box, the setup is real work with a real cost, and the minimum reflects it. We would rather explain that than quote you a low number and add the difference later.
Test Small, Then Commit
The practical way to use MOQ is as a gate on risk, not as a barrier.
Start with stocked styles in the models you actually sell, at a quantity you can test. You are learning two things at once: whether the case moves in your market, and whether our build quality matches what you expect. A test order answers both cheaply.
Then move to custom finishing once you know the case sells. By that point you are spending on printing or packaging for a product with proven demand, which is a much better place to absorb setup cost than a first order.

What the Minimum Is Not
A minimum is not a quality tier. A low minimum does not mean a weaker case, and a high minimum is not a sign of a better factory. It reflects setup, tooling, and packaging, nothing else.
A minimum is also not fixed forever. Once your design exists in our tooling, your reorder minimum behaves differently from your first order, because the setup has already been done. That is the whole point of testing small first.
Common Questions From Buyers
Why is the MOQ different for a custom color?
A custom color starts a batch made for you rather than a stocked run, so the setup cost is real and the minimum covers it. A stocked color has no comparable setup, which is why its minimum is lower.
Can I mix models or colors in one minimum order?
Usually yes at a higher total quantity, because mixed SKUs share one production and freight planning cycle. The cleanest path is to tell us the models and colors you want and let us confirm the exact minimum for that configuration.
Does a low MOQ mean a lower-quality case?
No. The minimum reflects setup, tooling, and packaging, not the material or the build. A stocked case and a custom case can be the same construction; the difference is whether the setup already exists.
